Technical
Q: What is the uniqueness of the
US versions ?
A: Kellsie Audio & Video designs characterized all drivers used and
incorporated refined crossover designs and bass reflection tuning. Combined
with tight component tolerance control, the resulting speaker systems
present excellent tonal balance and dynamics, wide-open soundstage,
and precise sound imaging.
Q: What is the benefit of having
frequency response up to 40KHz that is not audible ?
A: People have demonstrated that higher order harmonics may contribute to
the sonic presence even though they are not audible separately.
Q: Should I take off the cover
screen off when playing music ?
A: It is recommended to take off
the screen for serious listening, since it affects dispersion pattern and
therefore sound imaging and soundstage.
Q: Does placement of speakers
affect their performance ?
A: Yes, almost all speaker
systems are more or less affected by room response and placement. In
general, keep a minimum of one foot away from back and side walls, and try
not to have equal distances from adjacent walls.
Maintenance
Q: Can I vacuum clean my
speakers ?
A: Not recommended, since vacuum may damage the ribbon tweeter. Similarly
blowing air into the ribbon tweeter can also be detrimental. The only part
may be vacuum cleaned is the dust cover after removing it from the speaker.
Q: What special attention needs to be taken when unpacking the speakers ?
A: When removing the anti-static bag, do it slowly, since sudden movement
may cause vacuum
effect that damages the ribbon tweeter.
Q: How long does the AC ribbon tweeter last ?
A: Even though they are fragile, AC ribbon tweeters are so uniquely designed
that with proper care of handling it may last through the entire speaker's
life.
Electronics
Q: Do the CD players play CD-R ?
A: Yes.
Q: Can I connect a CD player
directly to a power amp and use its internal volume control ?
A: Yes, you can. However, since
the power-up default setting is maximum volume, you may cause damage to your
speakers if the volume is not reduce to a lower value before playing music.
Therefore, extreme care is needed for direct connection.
Q: How frequent should I replace
the vacuum tubes ?
A: All vacuum tubes used are
small signal tubes, and they last over 10k hours on average. Adequate
ventilation is always helpful to prevent over-heating of the vacuum tubes.
Q: How long does it take for
tubes getting to normal operating condition ?
A: All electronics with vacuum
tubes use a one-minute delay power on circuit, which allows a minimum
warm-up period. The system is ready to operate after this warm-up period.
However, It normally takes 10~20 minutes for the system reaching
equilibrium. Therefore, preventing frequent power on/off is good for sonic
consistency and help extend tube life too.
Q: Should I use RCA or XRL
connection ?
A: Use balance (XRL) connections
whenever it is possible. Balance interconnects help reject common-mode noise
and take full play of potential dynamics of the system.
